Christine Metz Christine Metz, PhD

Dr. Christine Metz received her BS degree from Cornell University and PhD in immunology/ pathology from New York University. She did her postdoctoral training with Dr. Daniel Rifkin, working on TGFβ and Dr. Richard Bucala, working on macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF). Currently, she is a Professor at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and Director of the OB/GYN Research at Northwell Health. Dr. Metz has been funded by grants from NIH, NY State and the American Heart Association; she has published >140 peer-reviewed research papers and is an inventor or co-inventor on 5 patents. Her research primarily focuses on identifying mechanisms that underlie dysfunctional inflammatory responses. Much of this work centers on conditions that affect women, including endometriosis. Recently, Drs. Metz and Gregersen received the Northwell Health Innovation Award ($500K) to develop a non-invasive diagnostic for endometriosis.
